Live Wedding Jazz in Austin
From the first note of your ceremony to a brass band marching you out the door, The Lowdown Stompers play the whole day. Musicians who have worked at Jazz at Lincoln Center, on Broadway, and at festivals from Newport to Tokyo. Wedding packages start at $1,200.
Music for every part of the day
Most couples book us for more than the reception, because the transitions are where live music earns its keep.
Ceremony. Processional, recessional, and the quiet minutes while guests are being seated. A duo or trio usually sits right here - present, not overwhelming.
Cocktail hour. Where a jazz band does its best work. Standards and Great American Songbook at conversation volume, so your guests can actually talk to each other.
Dinner and reception. We scale up or stay put, depending on the room and how you want the evening to feel.
If your ceremony and reception are in different places, that is routine for us. The band is mobile by design - we can break down, move, and be set up again in as little as ten minutes.
The New Orleans second line
If you want one moment your guests still bring up years later, this is it.
A second line is the New Orleans tradition of parading out behind a brass band - the two of you in front, everyone else following with handkerchiefs and whatever joy they have left. It works as a ceremony exit, a move between venues, or the last thing that happens at the end of the night.
It is loud, it is a little chaotic, and it is the single most photographed thing we do.
From a duo to a full band
There is no single configuration. We have played weddings as a duo tucked into a corner and as a full band with a horn section.
Space is rarely the obstacle people expect - at minimum we need about seven feet by seven feet. If space is genuinely tight, we can go as small as a duo. If you want the room to feel full, we scale up.
Tell us the room and the guest count and we will tell you honestly what will sound best in it. Packages start at $1,200 and go up with ensemble size and how much of the day you want covered.

How booking works
1. Check your date. Tell us the date, the venue, and roughly what you are imagining. We come back within 24 hours.
2. Talk it through. We are happy to meet beforehand - coffee, or come hear us at one of our public shows. Most couples find that hearing us live settles it.
3. Lock it in. Contract, deposit, and the date is yours.
Book early - ideally six to twelve months out. Schedules fill fast and ours is no exception, especially for spring and autumn Saturdays.
The practical stuff
What we wear. We like to look sharp - vintage-leaning three-piece suits, tie clips, the whole thing. Tuxedos if your event is black tie.
Outdoor weddings. Yes. We have a few requirements to keep the instruments safe and the music sounding good, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Song requests. Yes. If there is a piece that matters to you, tell us early and we will learn it.
Two locations. Not a problem. Ten minutes to move and reset.
